There is no real way to describe accurately just how fun a long tournament can be. In some ways, it is totally grueling. Tournaments hurt! 4 days of tournament really hurts! For me, beach is particularly hard for some reason (I know most people find it easier on their bodies), but my knees always ache after I play beach.
But despite the pain, I am really probably at my most happiest when at a tournament. Paganello was particuarly great this year, although I am not totally sure why. Part of it was seeing people I love that now live on a different continent. Part of it was playing with really great weather - warm, but slightly cloudy. Part of it was just being in Italy.
Except for the heartbreaking semifinal, which we lost double game point, and the 3/4 game, which was totally unspirited, and which we also lost double game point, I can't really think of any lows of the weekend.
My team is so amazing. I really appreciate and enjoy the people in this country who continuously go out of their way to make me feel welcome and a part of the community.
I want to write more about paga, but I really feel like I can't describe how I feel about it. Hmmm...might have to come back to this topic when I am slightly more removed and not feeling the empty feeling you feel when you get back from a tournament.
