Aloha Hawaii

Hawaii equals paradise.
eight days of lying on the beach, surfing, snorkeling, playing ultimate with some of my favorite people, eating sushi, lying by the pool, mostly just being in paradise....

Atlanta isn't quite as lovely.

I mean - it's amazing weather right now. And it's fun to be home. I coached yesterday. I helped out with an Ozone scrimmage today. And then sat on my porch swing with Maggie hanging out, enjoying the weather.

Highlights of Hawaii definitely include:

Winning with the amazing Rebel Coyotes. It was super fun to play on a team like that. We had people from 10 different cities. And everyone was just really good at ultimate. Good ultimate is just really freaking fun.

Body surfing every day during the tournament. I love getting up in the morning and running to the beach to body surf for a few minutes before I go play ultimate. Or coming back to the campsite and going for a swim before eating dinner.

Waking up every morning (the week before the tournament) and looking out the window to see Diamond Head and the ocean. It was pretty nice.

Getting into Morio's. The tiny little hole in the wall sushi place that we found. calling ahead of a time was mandatory. however, if you called when no one was around, the voicemail basically sounded like Morio's personal cellphone. "hi. it's morio. i'm not here. leave a message." And if you actually talked to them, "how many people do you have? hmmm.... when? hmmmm.... 7:30? Ok. We'll call you...." Then at 7:15, "hey - it's morio's. you come for dinner?..." pretty awesome. the food was delicious. byo sake. our cute little waitress was hilarious.

Going to Pearl harbor. Not exactly something I was super psyched to do when I woke up wednesday morning. The beach and the pool and the ocean were all calling to me. But... I am glad I went. I'm not sure I could have spent the full time there that guidebooks recommend. they say a full day. i was overwhelmed after a few hours. But it was good to see. Took a tour of a sub. Those things are tight. Took the boat ride over to the the memorial that was built over the U.S.S. Arizona. It was intense, but I am glad i did it.

Walking down to the Volcano coffee shop every morning to get some coffee, chat with the people that worked there, and just hang out. Yummm....morning coffee. More importantly - taking the time to walk down and get it. I love vacation.

Overall - awesome vaca. i'm ready to go back next year.
