Coffee

So when I started drinking coffee, I think I drank it more because I liked to calm down for a few minutes, relax, and enjoy the taste of it. This morning, as I literally GULPED my first cup of coffee down while rubbing the sleep out of my eyes, mixing up whose sandwich went in whose lunch box, and trying to get the kids to stop rollerblading in the house, I realized that my first cup of coffee is now very different than it used to be.
I also realized that once the kids are gone to school, I really still take a few minutes to enjoy my second cup. But when did that first cup become so important that I sortof need it (not so much the caffeine as the ritual of drinking it) as I start my day? When I stumble down to the kitchen every morning (and for some reason, I never get enough sleep and always stumble down to the kitchen), I immediately head for the coffee machine to start my first cup.
Last week, I very briefly considered giving up coffee for Lent. Then I realized how absurd that would be for me. Is it bad to continue to fuel the addiction?

seems like its really the ritual you're after... that's certainly the case with me in the mornings. if you do want to kick the coffee our of your life, you could probably switch to herbal tea and have that be your ritual.

still, there are worse things than an addiction to one cup of 'stumble to the kitchen coffee.' just sayin
